lessコマンドで-Mオプションと表示するファイル「boot.log」を指定すると、ファイルの内容が表示され、最下段にファイルのどの部分が表示されているかが表示される。

この例では、1-53が現在表示されている部分の行番号、1988がファイルの全行数、3%がファイルの先頭から表示されている部分の割合を示す。
